SHORT RUN CASEMAKER DA 2004

Born out of the experience of the well-known DA 1001 and DA 2002 semi-automatic covering machine models, this new machine is especially suitable for the production of:

• One-, three- and multi-quadrant covers
• Square spine photobook covers in low print run and one-offs
• Covers with special silhouettes for packaging
• Mirror lining without coating transport grippers

The ergonomic design of the machine allows for one-man operation.

Basic Model
The operator manually positions the guides for the new format (the whole operation takes less than 5 minutes). Optionally, the machine is supplied with automatic guide adjustment by computer and/or barcode reader for production of even single parts in sequence. After gluing, the liner is placed by the operator on the suction table where special guides allow for in-register positioning of the cardboard quadrants and backing. The set is then placed in the first fold group. From this the rest of the processing (nailing, 3rd and 4th fold and calender) occur automatically, while the operator can start the next cycle.

Atomatic model
All adjustments related to the size of the carton(s) occur automatically.

Extra devices such as bar code reader and carton cutter DA 904 are especially required for single covers of variable-page books such as photobooks, etc. Reading the bar code automatically triggers format adjustment. The DA 904 allows simultaneous cutting of the dials and backbone from the bar code scan.

DA 2004 consists of the modules:

• DA 175 gluing machine, with heated tank and continuous circulation
• Automatic Viscometer DA 101
• DA 2002 module with suction table, register guides and 1st and 2nd fold assembly
• DA 2004 module with double nailing station (IML patent) and folding-calender unit for 3rd and 4th output table tuck-in
